I've had a fantastic introduction to working gun dogs and I've experienced my first season picking up with Ivy. I've been able to observe many fantastic dogs and shadow experienced gun dog handlers in the field. I have been able to reflect on our success and learn from the various setbacks within the training process. I realise you have to go back to basics to get something right before moving forward. Within the few years of training and working my labs I'm beginning to appreciate the significance of working dogs. By working within a set of principles I'm hoping to encourage success of this exciting journey ahead with Reg.
This gorgeous boy is a new addition to the Biddable Bardsley household. In a series of puppy blogs I'll be following the ups and downs of Reggie's first year.
I've recently read Graham Cox's new training work book, The Gun's Dog. His philosophy on educating a dog has inspired me to adopt his principles and use it as a strategy for Reggie's training. More to come in my next puppy blog...Exciting times ahead!
